TOPAZ ARTS is pleased to present Pairings: Paintings by Roy Fowler – on view April 29 to May 28, 2023. There will be a closinng reception with the artist on Sunday, May 28th, 2-5pm. Free admission.

Pairings by Roy Fowler features a new series of paintings from 2021-2023 that reference the Coastal Range in Southern California. The surfaces of Fowler’s paintings echo the folding and faulting of the mountains; ridges and peaks of the terrain sparingly portrayed – in gray tones, painted on site in California, and in fluorescent colors, painted in his New York studio. Displayed side by side, the repetition reflects on experience and the passage of time. The installation at TOPAZ ARTS includes a large-scale painting from 1989, shown for the first time. As an avid trail runner, Fowler paints from the perspective of knowing the terrain and of being within these mountains – “I sometimes think about running while I’m painting, but mostly I’m just listening to the painting itself.” View studio visit by downloading TOPAZ ARTS’ digital guide on Bloomberg Connects >
