TOPAZ ARTS hosts a Filipino American History Month Closing Ceremony and Presentation of Awards with Artist Performances

Celebrate the closing of Filipino American History Month on Saturday, October 26th, 3-6pm. This year’s theme “Pinay Visionaries: Celebrating Filipina American Women” highlights their contributions in Greater NY. Join us for an afternoon of Arts, Performance, Award Presentations and light refreshments.

TOPAZ ARTS is pleased to host this year’s Filipino American History Month (FAHM) with The Filipino American National Historical Society – Metro NY, and the Office of NY State Assemblyman Brian Barnwell. This event is sponsored by TOPAZ ARTS, Inc. with support from New York City Council’s Cultural Immigrant Initiative.

Introducing our lineup of artists for this Saturday’s event, PINAY Visionaries: Celebrating Filipina American Women! In addition to the presentation of awards, we are excited to have the following artists present their work:

Laura Cabochan is the recipient of the FANHS MNY 2019 Outstanding Artist Award. An Educational Theatre doctoral candidate at NYU and Philippine Fulbright Fellow, she will be sharing a vocal performance. http://lauracabochan.com/

Paz Tanjuaquio is the Co-Founding Director of TOPAZ ARTS. An international award-winning choreographer, dancer, and performing artist, she will be performing a contemporary dance. http://www.topazarts.org/topaz-arts-dance-productions/

Czaerra Galicinao Ucol is the recipient of the FANHS MNY 2019 Distinguished Young Professional Award. An artist, educator and NYU senior, she will be performing her spoken word. https://youtu.be/UjdbVOhAnJc

Jana Lynne Umipig is the Co-Creator of the Sacred Circles of Survival Arts and Raised Pinay, and an Organizer for the Center for Babaylan Studies.
