TOPAZ ARTS Dance Productions performs as part of the "Love Shoe Dance and Performance Festival". This year's festival features member artists from the New York State Dance Force: Beth Hartle Fecteau (Nacre), Carlota Santana (Flamenco Vivo), Jim Self, and Paz Tanjuaquio who will be presenting the following works.

The Divide
choreography by: Paz Tanjuaquio
music by: Todd Richmond
performers: Chia Ying Kao, Paz Tanjuaquio
set design: Paz Tanjuaquio and Todd Richmond

Exploring spatial boundaries, this work was inspired by a soft border that once existed between the U.S. and Mexico on the Rio Grande at Big Bend National Park. In this new work-in-progress, a silver river separates the space as two dancers explore the terrain, creating a minimalist metaphor for similarities and differences across cultural divides.

FULCRUM - a dance film
choreography by: Paz Tanjuaquio
film & music by: Todd Richmond
performers: Chia Ying Kao, Paz Tanjuaquio

Fulcrum is a journey within dream-state and reality, past and present, as two dancers float through alternating scenes of nature and urban environments. Inspired by a 1952 written manuscript “The Soundless Music by Yoko Ono,” the work was filmed at various locations, from Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan to New York and Topaz Arts' studio in the US. This short film was recently selected for the 15th Annual Dancing for the Camera: International Festival of Film and Video Dance at American Dance Festival 2010.
